Veggie pizza balls

Updated: Jan 15, 2022

We usually make pizza or calzone with store bought pizza dough. Just as I was thinking about other options to make with my pizza dough, I came across these cheese balls recipe on Radhi Devlukia‘s YouTube channel. That gave me an idea to stuff veggies along with some sauce and cheese rather than just cheese. And Om came up with this name “pizza balls”.

You will need:

Veggies:

1/4 red pepper chopped

1/4 green pepper chopped

1/4 yellow pepper chopped

1/2 cup mushrooms chopped

1/2 of 2.25oz can of sliced olives

1/2 cup chopped greens (red/green mustard, kale from my Gardyn)

fresh herbs (oregano, basil from my Gardyn)-optional

Sauce:

3 tbsp marinara sauce (store bought)

Cheese:

3 tbsp shredded monterey jack

3 tbsp shredded mozzarella

2 tbsp cream cheese/ricotta cheese

Seasonings: (per taste)

salt

red chilli flakes

onion powder

garlic powder

thyme

oregano

rosemary

Method:

Stuffing:

Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a skillet. Add the veggies, seasonings. Saute for about 5 minutes on medium flame. The veggies can be half cooked. Add in the sauce and cheese and mix well.

Dough balls:

You can check out some tips to handle store bought pizza dough in my veggie pizza recipe.

Preheat the oven to 400°F. Divide up the dough in 6 parts. Make them into balls. Flatten each ball to a small disc shape. Add in the stuffing. Close the disc by pinching all ends. Now flip it and place that on a greased oven safe pan. Repeat this process for all the balls. Brush the pizza balls with melted butter. Sprinkle them with black and white sesame seeds (optional). Bake them at 400°F for 15 minutes.

ENJOY!
